Meet Jay Vaughan - President & Founder
Passion is one of the driving forces of success that awards superior athletes an ability to conquer their competitors. And passion is what drives me both as an athlete and as a business owner.
Originally from Ontario, my competitive skiing career started when 15 years old. I was named Canadian National champion in moguls three times before my 17th birthday, at which time I was selected to be on the Canadian National team.
Being the youngest national member at that time meant that I had a lot to learn, and a lot to prove. My ski career — spanning more than 15 years — has earned me worldwide recognition for winning medals on the World Cup Circuit, Nor-Am Circuit, Europa-Cup, and Continental Cups to name a few. Today, after years of competition, training and coaching at all levels
My promise to my fellow friends and customers is that Mountain Cultures will do our best to exceed customer expectations, provide quality merchandise and embody the best way to live through active lifestyle and good times.

Meet Carson - Store Manager
Carson is the store manager at Mountain Cultures and the machine behind most of the day to day operations. Carson first caught our eye as a very kind and enthusiastic customer. His genuine spirit, positive attitude and love of skiing made a huge impression on us over the years. His technical abilities on the hill, coaching background and aptitude for learning translate into a knowledgable and enjoyable experience for customers as he guides you into the right gear. His no pressure attitude and work ethic make him the ideal candidate to represent our shop.
Carson has been skiing since he was 3 and has coached for the Winsport freestyle program for 7 years.
On his days off in the summer you can find Carson skateboarding, mountain biking, hiking and paddle boarding. In the winter, he loves meeting up with friends and family to ride in the mountains.
Meet Thomas - Service Manager
Thomas has an eye for detail and he is most comfortable in the service shop working with the tools and equipment that get your gear ready to rock down the mountain. His years of shop experience and workmanship is impressive but so is his ability to jump onto the sales floor. Thomas has become very in tune with ski equipment and has the ability to pair athletes and recreational skiers with the ideal gear.
Thomas spent 6 years competitive skiing, ending up on the provincial team. He coached high performance freestyle athletes for 3 years.
Thomas is an avid mountain biker and backcountry skier who loves to get out to the mountains on his days off. We are very fortunate to have Thomas's positive energy and expertise on our team.

At Mountain Cultures our team work hard and play hard. We want to give our customers an educated shopping experience. Who better to do that than the people out there using the equipment. Ever wanted to be given advice by a professional athlete? We have them on staff too! Provincial, national team members as well as coaches make up a good part of our team. In addition to our amazing staff, we have an inspiring group of Mountain Cultures ambassadors; local athletes, coaches and videographers we support through their journeys and who live the mountain culture.
